A mum from Taunton is highlighting how vital it is that non-speaking autistic voices are heard.

It's as this month is dedicated to World Autism Acceptance.

Laura Brown's four-year-old son Ethan has inspired her to call for better accessibility for non-verbal autistic children.

Ethan uses technology now to communicate with people.

Laura said: "It gives them a chance to show that they have something to say because there's so many myths that fly around.

"That being that non-speaking people are dealt with like they have nothing to say and that's so far from the truth.

"People would say bye to us and not Ethan because he wasn't speaking but now that's changed and Ethan loves the phrase bye bye."

Laura been nominated for a National Diversity Award for her work.
