Thirteen fire crews attend large blaze in Somerset barn
200 tonnes of hay caught fire on Monday morning
A fire that broke out at a barn in Stawley, near Wellington, this morning (Monday 2nd October) saw six fire engines from across Devon in Somerset arrive at the scene.
13 crews were in attendance to put out the blaze.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service were called to reports of a fire at an agricultural barn at around 10 this morning.
Crews arrived with three fire engines, but soon requested further assistance from three more vehicles.
They have confirmed one shed well containing 200 tonnes of hay caught on fire – with a liquid nitrogen tank nearby.
Work is underway to cool the tank, which is said to be not directly involved with the fire.
As of 6:12pm today, crews confirmed the incident is still ongoing and progress is being made.
