A middle school here in Somerset has been forced to shut for the remainder of the week.

Bosses at Danesfield School in Williton near Taunton say because of absences in 'key management positions'.

They add arrangements are being put into place to make sure they can reopen on Monday - so pupils and staff and enjoy their end of term together.

On their website, they said: "Danesfield school has been closed for the remainder of this week due to the unforeseen absence of staff in key management positions.

"We apologise profusely to everyone impacted by this short notice decision.

"It was not a decision that was taken lightly, but a necessary one to ensure the wellbeing of our pupils and staff.

"Arrangements are being put into place to allow the school to reopen on Monday, 8 July so our pupils and our staff can return to the classroom and enjoy their end of term together."
