A Somerset ice-cream parlour says they expect to see more customers now the better weather has arrived and it is 'exciting' to see the better temperatures.

The Met Office say it is set to be the warmest spell of the year so far this week for the UK, with temperatures expected to reach 28 degrees in some parts.

In Somerset, temperatures could reach up to 26 degrees in areas, with the pollen count also set to be very high.

Farmer Paul Candy is the owner of Palette and Pasture, he said: "We certainly call sunny weather ice cream weather as more people are motivated to come out when it's nice and sunny.

"We often say there's a window of optimum ice-cream and it sits somewhere between 20-28 degrees.

"Because the weather is so nice this week, we're going to start running an afternoon session between 2-5pm for children to come and get some ice cream afterschool."

A peak on Wednesday or Thursday of 28 degrees, with a small chance of seeing 29, is expected the Met Office say.

They also added night temperatures will still drop down to at least low teens, so we shouldn't suffer too much with warm nights.
