Somerset Council and SUEZ 'proudly supporting Taunton Pride'
They will be helping to keep the event site clean by providing a recycling and rubbish service during Saturday’s extravaganza
Somerset Council and its waste collections contractor SUEZ say they're proud to be supporting this weekend's Taunton Pride.
Their brightly-coloured 'one community, one love' lorry will be out and about making collections at the rescheduled event.
Between them, the local authority and SUEZ say they will be helping to keep the event site clean and tidy by providing a recycling and rubbish service during Saturday’s extravaganza in Vivary Park.
The ‘in kind’ sponsorship was a suggestion from SUEZ staff, according to the local authority.
Matt Canning, Contract Director from SUEZ recycling and recovery UK said: “We are proud to be supporting the event again this year by clearing the rubbish and recycling.
“Our brightly coloured ‘one community, one love’ lorry, that was specially designed last year, will be out and about again making collections. We’re so pleased to be able to help the rescheduled event and continue to strengthen our commitment to the community”.
Somerset Council’s Executive Member for Environment and Climate Change, Dixie Darch said: “It’s our priority to make sure Somerset remains a welcoming and caring community and we were happy to be asked to support the event.”
Rob Ewers on behalf of Taunton Pride CIC said: “SUEZ and Somerset Council have consistently supported Taunton Pride, including providing access to the park and our rescheduling to September. We are grateful to have them as part of our on-site team and know they are allies and safe, reliable partners."
The day kicks off tomorrow with a parade through the town - at 11:30 in the morning.
The parade is then followed by and afternoon of music, workshops and exhibitions from midday.
