Silk Mills P&R to remain closed amid 'unauthorised encampment'

Bosses at Somerset Council have confirmed the Silk Mills Park and Ride will remain closed today and tomorrow (March 28 and 29) amid an 'unauthorised encampment' being set up earlier this week.

Somerset Council say the service will operate as usual between Taunton Gateway, the town centre and Musgrove Park Hospital.

In a statement sent to us on Wednesday, bosses at Somerset Council said: "Bus services to the Silk Mills Park and Ride have been temporarily suspended following an unauthorised encampment.

"Anyone with a vehicle parked at the site will be dropped at the gates and can collect their vehicles this evening.

"Service 1E will also be suspended from entering the site this evening until further notice.

"From tomorrow morning 27 March the park and ride service will remain suspended until the situation is resolved. Security staff are on site and a legal process underway.

"The service will operate as usual between Taunton Gateway, town centre and Musgrove Park Hospital, terminating in Mountway Road.

"The Gateway Park and Ride at junction 25 will be operating as normal."
