Search for man's family who died in Wincanton crash

Avon and Somerset Police continue their search for his next of kin

Investigations continue this morning by Avon and Somerset Police - after a man died in a crash on the A371 near Wincanton.

The incident involved a lorry and a van when it happened in the early hours of yesterday morning (26 June) between West Hill and Gibbet Road - with the crash causing diversions for those also heading to the Glastonbury Festival.

Officers say they're trying to trace the man's family who they say are abroad.

In all, four people were in the van - and one person was in the lorry, the driver of which police have confirmed was 'shocked' in the incident, but unhurt.

Although formal identification has not yet taken place, the man who is believed to be in his twenties.

It has been confirmed that the families of the other three men, who were in the van are all in their thirties, have been contacted.

One of them remains in hospital for treatment to injuries which are serious but not currently believed to be life-threatening.

Another remains in hospital for observation with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, while a fourth has been discharged following treatment.

The A371 reopened at about 4pm following a collision investigation and the recovery of the vehicles.
