Happy Somerset Day!

The annual event celebrating our county has come around again for 2021, but it will look slightly different than usual due to the pandemic.

Usually a host of events would be taking place up and down Somerset, showing off the best the county has to offer.

Unfortunately even the mini markets planned for Taunton have been called off due to the forecast strong winds today.

But we are being asked to fly Somerset's flag instead.

Whether that's in the form of an actual flag, a car sticker, some bunting stuck up outside your home, the team behind the event just want you to celebrate your home!

Nigel Muers-Raby, founder of Somerset Day, said: "We are the bread basket of the UK, we have more farm food and drink producers than any other county in the UK. We've got wonderful coastline, amazing countryside, we're famous for our carnivals, we have the largest music festival in the world. Somerset is an amazing place".
