Police update following stabbing in North Somerset

Avon and Somerset Police were called out to Worle High Street yesterday afternoon - nobody has yet been charged

Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed a man is still in custoty after a stabbing in Worle yesterday afternoon.

His victim - a man in his 50s - was airlifted to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition with non life-threatening stab wounds.

Police were called out to the scene at 16:24 yesterday (May 30) after reports from witnesses.

A man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm at 4.28pm remains in custody as of 12.30pm on Wednesday 31 May.

A weapon has also been seized.

Worle High Street was closed for investigation between Bideford Road and Westwood Close until about 8.30pm on Tuesday.

Officers have also carried out house to house enquiries and forensic examinations.

They also say it's understood the two men involved in the incident are known to each other - and the police don't believe there's a wider risk to the wider public.

Locals are advised there'll be an increased police presence as investigations are carried out.
