Police are urging anyone who sees someone acting suspiciously around any sort of motorbike or moped to call 999 immediately.

It's after officers in Taunton have been responding to reports of dangerous and anti-social motorcycle use by young people - with the help of the National Police Air Service helicopter, in a bid to prevent the behaviour and to act on any offences.

They'll be carrying out a number of enquiries across the town following the operation last night (September 11), in which officers spoke to a number of young people.

A moped was also recovered on Laburnum Street last night, and its registered keeper will now be contacted to establish whether the moped was stolen.

Other enquiries, such as house to house and a review of CCTV from the area, will also be carried out as we look to tackle a recent troubling rise in motorcycle theft and associated antisocial motorbike use.

If you have any other information which could help us tackle the problem, ring 101, or report through the Avon and Somerset Police website.

You can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their Anonymous Online Form.

No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will not go to court or have to speak to police when contacting Crimestoppers.
