'Please stop sharing images on social media as it could prejudice suspected murder investigation'
Detectives in Yeovil, who are investigating the suspected murder of a man from Devon, are urging people to stop sharing images on social media.
A man, believed to be 40 and from the Teignbridge area of Devon, was found dead on Saturday in the Hendford Hill area.
Officers have been given more time to question two men and detectives say the sharing of images is a criminal offence - as it could prejudice their ongoing investigation.
DCI Phil Walker, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: "Two men remain under arrest following the death of a man in the Hendford Hill area Yeovil in the early hours of Saturday (12 December).
While formal identification has not yet taken place, the victim is believed to be Louis Bednall, aged 40, from the Teignbridge area of Devon. Our thoughts are with his family.
A warrant of further detention was obtained yesterday for two men, aged 23 and 29, who have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Senior Investigating Officer Det Insp Phil Walker, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: "Our investigation is progressing at pace and I'd like to thank the local community for their patience and support while police activity continues at the scene, including searches and forensic enquiries.
"We're keeping the family of the victim updated and are providing them with all the support they need at this very difficult time. A formal identification procedure has not yet taken place.
"We’d still like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Hendford Hill area on Friday night, into Saturday morning, if they haven’t already spoken with us.
"If you can help, please call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5220278520."
