Nudey knits in Somerset café censored after complaints go viral
The café in Shepton Mallet have had to cover up a squad of five knitted characters after complaints were raised

Naughty knits have been causing a bit of a stir at a local eatery in Somerset.
We're told people as far away as Los Angeles have had a giggle after The Hive Craft Café in Shepton Mallet put five naked figures in the window - made for charity by a knitting group which meets there.
All was on show - but their prominence at the front of the display raised concerns with locals - with one person branding them 'disgusting' as she walked her grandchildren to school.
Complaints then went viral online - so they decided they had to do something, whilst keeping them on show whilst raising money for a local cause.
Instead of getting rid of them, they 'censored' the figures from the front with a band of paper.
Speaking to us, owner of the café, Mark Alford, said: "We had one original complaint when the nudey knits went in the window from a lady who was walking her grandkids from school.
"She rang in to say they were 'disgusting' and for us to take them out - so what we did instead was install a makeshift 'censor strip' instead.
"They were made by our knitting group - who've always wanted to support charity - and it's why we're promoting the Air Ambulance this year.
"It all came about after they were inspired by a book series by Sarah Simi - and ever since, it's caused a bit of a stir!
"Hey - well, life is too short - and there's a lot of bad things going on in the world at the moment.
"We need some laughter to lift us all up - and that's what we've tried to do for such a great cause."
