Next stage of work in Yeovil Refresh scheme starts today
Today (July 10) marks the next stage in improvements for the scheme set to bring major upgrades to the town centre
Sections of Middle Street will be temporarily closed between now and November, as the next stage of the Yeovil Refresh scheme gets underway.
It's focusing on improving street lighting, making the footpaths wider and adding things that'll make out part of the world more pleasant to live.
Five key areas of change have been identified for enhancement in this area, which once completed, is promised to result in:
- Widened footways
- Raised seating planters, street tree and ornamental planting
- Flexible paving space
- Creation of blue badge parking bays
- Improved street lighting and new bench seating
- A more appealing, safer, enjoyable, fit for purpose environment for residents, visitors and businesses
Starting at the Borough, sections of Middle Street will be closed and re-opened sequentially to traffic.
Work will be completed in a series of phases with the first two phases scheduled for completion by the end of November 2023.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the duration of the works, however.
Somerset Council say they are working with their partners, SWH, to make sure any disruption made during the works are minimised, with alternative provisions in place wherever possible.
