A new logo for Somerset Council has been revealed - after more than 60 designs went through focus groups.

The five current councils are becoming one next year and a £78,000 fund has been set aside to create the logo - based on 500-pounds per sign.

A report, ahead of an executive meeting next week, says: "The team estimate costs as being up to £78,000 including contingency. This is based in a model of £500 per sign.

"The Executive is asked to note that the Local Government Reorganisation programme has identified £100,000 within its existing budget to support branding work that will sit outside business as usual costs.

"Signage will be funded from this sum and the current communications department budget.

"The biggest risk to brand rollout will potentially come from statutory services not informing the design team of requirements in good time.

"To that end services have been able to request branded material for the new council since September this year through an online form."
