Motorbike rider dies in A371 collision near Axbridge

A motorbike rider has died in a crash in Axbridge this afternoon (May 25).

Avon and Somerset Police say it happened on the A371 at 13.40, with the road closed for a number of hours.

In a statement, the force said: "Emergency services were call to the A371 at about 1.40pm after a single-vehicle collision.

"Tragically, the motorcyclist died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts go out to his family.

"A specially-trained family liaison officer will provide them with support."

The road was closed during investigative work, however it reopened at 19:35 this evening.
