Police in Somerset are on the hunt for a man who managed to run off whilst being arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Avon and Somerset Police say they were called to Longleat Close in Frome at around 11:10am on Monday (19 June).

A lone officer was first on the scene and began arresting a man at around 11:40am, but the man managed to break free and run off, with handcuffs hanging off one wrist.

In a statement police say a member of the public later called to say they had disturbed a man with a similar description in a shed, but he ran off again.

He has so far not been found despite extensive searches by officers and a police dog.

The man is described as white, bald and aged in his 30s or 40s.

At the time he was wearing a black, grey and white hoody with light writing across the black section on his chest and blue jeans, whilst as already mentioned he had handcuffs hanging off one wrist.

Anyone who thinks they spot the man is asked to call 999 immediately.
