Man charged in connection with fatal collision near Sherborne

A man has been charged after a fatal road traffic collision near Sherborne in February 2024.

Dorset Police received a report at 4.08pm on Tuesday 20 February 2024 of a collision on the A30 at Babylon Hill, near to the junction with Marl Lane, involving a blue Mini Cooper and a blue Volvo articulated lorry.

Emergency services attended and the driver of the Mini, a Yeovil man aged in his 20s, was taken by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital in Bristol having sustained serious injuries.

He died in hospital the next day (Wednesday 21 February 2024).

Police said his family were informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A 61-year-old man from Stibbington in Peterborough is next due to appear in relation to causing death by careless and/or inconsiderate driving at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 25 September 2025.
