Leonardo confirms jobs boost in Yeovil
New figures reveal a significant increase in workforce numbers
Global aerospace and security company Leonardo has released figures for 2024, revealing a significant growth in its workforce.
The firm is the largest employer in Yeovil and has dubbed the town "the home of British helicopters".
Leonardo hired an additional 1,400 people to work across the UK, including 450 on early careers schemes and apprenticeships programmes.
“All of this,” said Roberto Cingolani, CEO and General Manager, “enables Leonardo to increasingly play a leading role in the global Aerospace, Defense, and Security industry."
“The past year,” he concluded, “has also been significant in our progress in the field of sustainability.
"Leonardo is increasingly proving itself to be a company capable of attracting young talent, being inclusive, driving innovation, and improving its environmental impact."
With nine sites around the UK including Yeovil, Leonardo contributes £2.5Bn to UK GDP.
A spokesperson for the firm has put growth down to an increase in demand, reflecting how technology produced by the company is needed to address intensifying security threats to the UK and its allies.
