Keane to headline Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza
The annual event is held as a 'thank you' to locals of the famous festival
East Sussex alt rock supergroup Keane are to highlight the 2024 edition of the Glastonbury Abbey Extraganza.
It's held every year in the grounds of the town's Abbey, with the first performances dating all the way back to 1996, as a 'thank you' to locals by the original organiser of Glastonbury Festival - Michael Eavis.
Back in 1996, the event started as a classical music concert, and later turned into a three-day extravaganza, with a variety of music being played over the course of three days.
However, it went back to its original format a decade ago - which saw it held on a Saturday night - after the main Glastonbury Festival event is held.
Keane will now be joining the likes of Jools Holland, Van Morrison, Joss Stone, Squeeze, Status Quo, Tom Odell and Texas who have performed at the prestigious event over the years.
Next year will be a special one for the band, as they mark two decades since the release of their critically-acclaimed album, 'Hopes and Fears'.
They formed many years before their first album came out, though, after coming together at Tonbridge School in 1995.
They're best known for songs including 'Somewhere Only We Know', 'Everybody's Changing' and 'Is It Any Wonder?', and reformed after a hiatus in the mid 2010's.
Keane will be performing in Somerset as part of their 2024 Keane20 World Tour.
Also performing in the iconic Abbey surroundings will be the Shepton Mallet Big Band, as well as a number of special guests - concluding with the traditional fireworks finale.
