Somerset superstar spinner Jack Leach has committed a further two years with the side, having signed a contract extension with the club.

It means the 32-year-old will remain at the Coopers Associates County Ground until at least the end of the 2026 season, after his contract was originally due to expire later this year.

Leach has worked his way up the club ranks, and it was all the way back in 2012 when he made his debut in the First XI - taking on South Africa.

Since then, Jack has gone on to represent the Club on more than 100 occasions across the formats, claiming in excess of 300 wickets.

He has also featured in 36 Test matches for his country, taking 126 wickets at an average of 34.40.

Jack said: “I’m very happy and proud to have committed my future to Somerset.

“Somerset is home and I feel very lucky to continue to represent the Club I love.

“The support I’ve had from the Club and the fans over the last 12 months whilst out injured has meant so much and I look forward to repaying that faith with performances on the pitch.”

Somerset Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry said: “People like Jack Leach are what Somerset County Cricket Club is all about. Not only is he consistently contributing to victories for the Club on the field, but he’s also a tremendous ambassador off the park.

“His passion for the Club and will to succeed are second to none and every time he takes to the field, whether that be for Somerset or England, he gives absolutely everything for the cause.

“He is exactly the sort of character that every team wants in their dressing room. His work ethic is second to none and he is a model professional. He is a genuine role model for our younger professionals with whom Jack has spent countless hours working with over the last few years.

“Once again we have seen him face a number of obstacles in the last 12 months, overcome these and come back even stronger, and we are delighted that someone of his calibre has committed his future to the Club.”
