The new owner of Yeovil FC has been telling us why he bought the club.

The manager, captain and new owner of Yeovil fc appeared together for the first time following the weekend’s takeover.

Local businessman Martin Hellier says he hopes to rebuild the fan base next season - and it’ll help they have closer matches in places like Bath, Weston, Taunton and Torquay.

Martin tells us he couldn’t watch the decline any longer: "Becoming more and more aware of the disparity between the fans and the ownership and management - the heartfelt frustration of being a local boy myself and seeing our flagship club spiralling out of control."

Despite being relegated, Yeovil captain Josh Staunton says he’s excited about the future: "First and foremost it'd be nice to put last year behind us. We've got the foundations now to do it right and I think that's all anyone want for this club - and I'm excited for the future of the Yeovil."
