Here's where to watch a local proclamation today in Somerset

Events are taking place to proclaim the new King today in places like Bridgwater, Taunton, Frome and Glastonbury

Union flags are being flown at half-mast across Somerset to mark the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The National Proclamation, the official announcement of Her Majesty’s death and acknowledgement of the commencement of the King’s new reign, took place yesterday at St James Palace.

A Local Proclamation will be read out by the High Sheriff of Somerset, Jennifer Duke, in front of the Market House in Taunton town centre, at 1pm.

The Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council will be making a local proclamation at 4pm in King Square, Bridgwater.

In Glastonbury this proclamation will take place at 4pm on the veranda at the front of the Town Hall.

Cllr Sara Butler will deliver the Proclamation outside the Frome Memorial Theatre with the Deputy Mayor, Philip Campagna at 4.10pm.

The public are welcome to observe any of the local proclamations.

Floral tributes to HM Queen Elizabeth ll can be laid at Taunton Minster, St Mary Magdalene Church - along with other venues.

Members of the public are being asked to please be 'mindful of the environment and remove wrapping or choose biodegradable items'.

The Local Proclamation in Taunton is a short ceremony supported by the five councils - Somerset County Council, Somerset West and Taunton Council, Sedgemoor District Council, Mendip District Council and South Somerset District Council.

Books of Condolence have been opened at all the Council offices including the Somerset West and Taunton Council offices in Deane House, Taunton, and West Somerset House, Williton, and the Somerset County Council offices, County Hall.
