A community group in East Wells are trying to raise enough money to save the only pub left in the area.

The Britannia Inn closed in 2021 and is now up for sale for £300,000.

The East Wells Community Benefit Society are trying to fundraise £450,000 to be able to re-novate the pub and re-open it.

If it's not saved, the building faces being demolished.

Theo Butt Philip is the Chair of the East Wells Community Benefit Society, he said: "I worked to get it registered as an asset of community value. I then launched the group to see if we can get it back up and running again.

"Anyone who's got as little of £50 can buy a share for the pub.

"Once we've raised that money, we're trying to do that by May, hopefully we will be able to get it back up and running again."

The group also want the pub to be a community hub to hold events for people in the area.
