Council to spent up to a million to demolish derelict shopping centre
It's part of the Yeovil Refresh scheme
Up to a million pounds is going to be spent by Somerset Council - demolishing a shopping centre, amid the Yeovil Refresh regeneration programme.
The scheme's designed to future proof the town centre - making it more accessible and attractive to residents and visitors.
Companies have until the 24th of May to submit their bids on the proposed work on Glovers Walk, ahead of a major redevelopment of the site.
A large amount of the funding for Yeovil Refresh (£9.75 million) has come from the government's Future High Streets Fund, which was awarded back in December 2020. So far the money has been used to construct the new amphitheatre at the Triangle, make improvements to Middle Street and a cultural events programme in conjunction with Love Yeovil and Yeovil Artspace.
