Somerset's home of carnival is celebrating summer!

It's Bridgwater's Super Saturday today and the town are hoping to showcase the best of local talent.

There will be circus, dance, theatre and live music from performers across the county throughout the day.

Pirates of the Carabena will have their Pirate Taxi outside Greenslade Taylor Hunt and BOS Cafe. The Tall Tails Theatre Company will be walking around the town centre with their performances of The Adventures of Madame Carousel and Mr Popsy.

A variety of local Bridgwater musical talent will be on display on the solar powered Platform Stage all afternoon, supported and programmed by Seed Sedgemoor. Elsewhere, the aKa Dance Theatre and Farm Yard Circus will be performing in St Mary’s Church and on Fore Street respectively.

The event has been funded with investment from the UK Government.

The event organiser Sarah Setter, from Lost Lady Society said “we are extremely grateful for Bridgwater Town Deal/Council for creating this opportunity for so many local cultural professionals across the county and artistic genres. Fingers crossed for the weather!”

R Lambert, co-chair of the grant decision panel, said “The panel felt it was important that funding brought exciting large-scale events to Bridgwater. We saw some exceptional applications that will bring residents / visitors into town and much needed footfall.”
