There'll be a flag raising ceremony in Taunton later to show support for Somerset's armed forces (June 24).

It'll be flown outside the main council offices and marks the start of build up for local Armed Forces Day events, happening on Saturday.

It's been called a 'particularly poignant' moment as we marked the 80th anniversary of D-Day this year.

If you want to pay their own tributes ahead of Armed Forces Day, you can find out more on their website.

You can also show your support and join a fun filled day of free events and displays for all the family at the Somerset Armed Forces Day in Vivary Park on Saturday, 6 July.

The day is a free community event to show your support for, and celebrate, the men and women who make up the Armed Forces and Emergency Services communities.
