First winners of new cycling scheme in Somerset
Cycling campaigners say progress is being made to get more people on their bikes
Campaigners, trying to improve cycling safety in Somerset, have confirmed the first seven winners of a new scheme aimed at highlighting best practice.
The list includes Lyngford Park surgery, Musgrove Park Hospital and Aldi for new bike parking facilities.
The team behind a 'Family Fun Bike Ride' in the village of Kingston St Mary also made the list.
One of the organisers, Marion Nieuwenhuizen, said: "It is great to see good schemes to enable more cycling, from the private and public sectors, social enterprises and voluntary groups.
"We hope that others in similar sectors will take inspiration from it and that we will be able to recognise more projects in future years".

- GOLD: On Your Bike - Range of valuable services to cycling, including free public Dr Bike sessions
- GOLD: Eat Festivals - Promotion and services to cycling
- GOLD: Lyngford Park surgery - Provision of covered cycle parking close to the visitor access
- GOLD: Kingston Area Pedestrian and Cycle Campaign - Planning, promotion and safe running of the popular Kingston St Mary Family Fun Bike Ride
- SILVER: Musgrove Hospital - Provision of covered cycle parking spaces across the site
- SILVER: Somerset Council - Upper High Street cycle pedestrian crossing and High St ' Pedestrian and Cycle Zone'
- SILVER: Aldi - Provision of covered parking close to the customer access with access path, Chip Lane
