Fire at recycling centre near Taunton

The blaze started in the early hours of this morning

People living near an industrial estate in Cheddon Fitzpaine, Taunton are being told to keep their windows and doors closed, after a fire broke out in the early hours of this morning (03/10).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue is asking people living nearby to keep their windows and doors closed, whilst the emergency service get the blaze under control.

It said in the statement: "We are currently in attendance at a recycling centre fire at Crown industrial estate in Cheddon Fitzpaine, Taunton. We are advising residents within the area to stay inside and to keep windows and doors closed."

Crews from a number of nearby stations have attended the scene, including Taunton, Bridgwater, Wellington, Yeovil and Martock.

The Fire Service say they received a call from the fire alarm company at 03.19 am, to find a "well established fire" at the scene.
