The message for locals here in Somerset is 'bins out by 6am', as the weather heats up and the roads get busier ahead of Glastonbury Festival - happening later this week.

Between today (June 24) and Wednesday, the message from Somerset Council to residents is to put your recycling and rubbish bins out the night before collection and by 6am at the latest.

Crews will be starting early to help them cope with the forecast hot weather and to help beat the extra traffic on the roads due to Glastonbury Festival.

It's hoped that this should limit any disruption to recycling, rubbish or garden waste collections across the county.

Residents who have had a missed collection, and reported it in the last couple of days, should leave their bin, boxes and bag out for collection.

Somerset’s waste and recycling collection crews make more than 350,000 collections a week.

You can report a missed waste collection online.
