Dairy show returns to Bath & West, with a focus on mental health
The annual dairy show returns to the Bath & West Showground today.
The one-day dairy show, which is seen an essential date in the farming calendar, returns to the Bath & West today - after being postponed last year due to the pandemic.
There'll be a a number of trade stands as well as industry seminars, including a 'Health Hub for Farmers' on 'Looking after yourself today, for tomorrow' by the Lord-Lieutenant for Somerset Annie Maw.
Alan Lyons, Head of Shows at the Bath & West, said: “It is important to look forward and particularly the genetic acceleration and the enthusiasm of young people in the world of dairy cattle showing. With that in mind the classification for the 40th show is all about youth and facing the future together.
"Whilst the time of year that the dairy show is held remains the same as it was 40 years ago, so as not to clash with any other major dairy events and to suit the general calving patterns, the show continues to showcase the latest advances in technology.
"Because what farmer doesn’t want to keep up to date with the newest advances and improve his herd in the most cost-effective way?"
