Cyclist dies following Bath Road crash

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drug driving

Avon and Somerset Police is appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash in Bridgwater this morning (Wednesday 7 April) to come forward.

A black Vauxhall Corsa collided with a man riding a bicycle on the A39 Bath Road just before 11am.

The cyclist died at the scene.

He's not yet been formally identified, but he is believed to be a man in his 40s. His next of kin have been told and will be supported by specially-trained officers.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drug driving. He remains in police custody.

Anyone who saw what happened or who has dashcam footage of the crash is asked to call 101.
