Crew remain at the scene, but we still don't know what started Crewkerne fire

There's still a fire crew in Crewkerne at the former NatWest building this morning, as investigations continue.

14 fire engines were called to the empty three-storey building yesterday lunchtime.

The cause of the incident has still not been confirmed and no one was injured.

In the latest incident at 7am, a fire service spokesperson has confirmed: "One appliance from Crewkerne are in attendance at the scene for a revisit to check the scene. Incident ongoing.

"The building is 80% damaged by fire and heat on the roof and third floor, the rest of the building is 100% damaged by smoke."

Crews were called to Market Street at 12.16pm. Crews from Crewkerne, Yeovil, Taunton, Chard, Street, Martock, Ilminster, Sherborne, Axminster, Somerton, Wincanton and Bovey Tracey all attended - along with the police and ambulance service.
