Fire crews are investigating what caused a fire at a school in Yatton - which damaged much of the roof.

Emergency Services were called to Yatton Infants School at 13.18 on Bank Holiday Monday (29/05), to what they've called a "significant" fire on the school site.

Today, (30/05) Firefighters say they’ve ruled out foul play as the cause of a massive blaze where several classrooms were destroyed.

Firefighters from 10 stations, including Clevedon, Yate and Weston all attended, with nine fire engines, two turntable ladders and a command unit all in use at the height of the fire.

The High Street was closed for some time by Police colleagues to allow for crews to work safely at the scene, but has since reopened.

Yatton School's Association have called the fire "sad" and "shocking" and say they want to minimise the disruption to pupils after the half-term week.
