Bus overturns on school run near Frome

A small number of people have been taken to hospital following an RTC involving a school bus near Frome.

Earlier today, emergency services a call from a member of the public at approximately 3.35pm, with routes on B3090 Oldford Hill shut off to traffic while investigations were carried out.

A number of passengers on-board were schoolchildren - as well as staff - from Frome College.

Some of the passengers suffered from minor injuries, with paramedics at the scene assessing their injuries.

None of their injuries are said to be life changing, but a few of those who suffered injuries were taken to hospital for further treatment.

On Twitter, Frome College released a statement, saying: "This afternoon a coach, carrying our students and staff, was involved in a road traffic accident outside Oldford. The emergency services remain on the scene, along with our Principal and Vice Principal.

"We have been informed that there are no life threatening injuries. We will issue a further statement once all the details are established, and ask that you do not speculate or post details of the accident on social media."

Avon and Somerset Police asked motorists to avoid the area for much of the night.

Enquiries are continuing by Avon and Somerset Police to establish the cause of the collision, with officers liaising with the school, as well as parents and guardians.
