Bird flu confirmed in Somerset
3km captive bird controlled zone declared around Evercreech
A highly contagious form of bird flu has been detected in Somerset.
Officials from the Animal & Plant Security Agency say the H5N1 strain has been found in a premises in Evercreech.
A 3km captive bird (monitoring) controlled zone has been established.
The whole of the UK's currently under an Avian Influenza Prevention zone with increased biosecurity measures in place to try and stop further outbreaks.
