An appeal has been launched by police as part of their investigation after a man was physically and sexually assaulted in Taunton.

It happened at Vivary Park back on the 24th of August.

The force have now released an image of a man they want to identify as part of their investigation into the assault.

Following the reported assault, police say the victim challenged the suspect.

That resulted in him being punched in the face several times.

He suffered facial injuries.

The offender is described as white, of medium build, in his late twenties or early thirties, around 5ft 9ins, with black hair which was thinning at the back, and he was wearing a blue or grey hooded top.

Enquiries are ongoing and police say they have taken witness statements and are reviewing photographic evidence, whilst they are also ensuring the victim has any support he may need.

If you recognise the man in the image, call police on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5223206129.

Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their Anonymous Online Form.

No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will not go to court or have to speak to police when contacting Crimestoppers.
