20,000 tickets sold and counting as panto impresses on opening weekend
The team behind this year's Octagon Theatre panto say they hope to sell all tickets this year
More than 20,000 tickets have now been sold for Somerset's biggest panto.
Dick Whittington opened at Yeovil's Octagon Theatre on Friday and has a complete run capacity of 26,500 with the team behind the show aiming for a total sell out.
Fan favourites Gordon Cooper and Jack Glanville return to the cast in the show written by Paul Hendy and produced by Evolution Productions.
The team have been involved with panto in Yeovil for a decade, with next year's show likely to move to the Westlands venue as a £23 million transformation of the Octagon gets underway.
The Octagon Theatre is owned by South Somerset District Council.
Andrew Kay, Greatest Hits Radio chief reporter, thoughts on the show.
I was lucky enough to attend Saturday's night show with my family and we loved it. I watched last year's show as well and genuinely thought this year took the standard even higher. There's lots of pantos around and Dick Whittington certainly stands out. The show is fast paced, funny, engaging and feels like something you would expect to see in a major city as a posed to a provincial theatre in Somerset. The casting was again superb and it's great to see the actors themselves building a following and adding to the Christmas tradition. I took my daughter and she - as well as the other children around us - were getting increasingly excited and captivated as the show went on. I thought the show itself was hugely engaging - both technically as well as the excellent script - and I really enjoyed the twists on many of the traditional aspects. Certainly a show worth watching.
