Your Salisbury Pantry pauses memberships again

The social supermarket say they're helping more city households though

Memberships have been paused for Your Salisbury Pantry for a second time.

The social supermarket on Catherine Street provides low cost food to households that need it, in return for a small membership fee.

Increasing demand for the service, run by Salisbury City Council's Communities Team, means they can't take any more families for the time being.

The Pantry offers families a chance to 'shop' at lower prices than supermarkets

It's been described as a 'difficult decision' that's been taken to 'make sure we have the food supply to support new members well'.

Memberships were also paused last October, following a successful first six months of 'trading'.

The Pantry is currently supporting an average of 106 households every week - that's around three times more than this time last year.

There's also a push for more donations of food supplies to help stock the service.

The City Council's asking if there's any shops that could have a donation box, groups that would like hold collections for them, or food producers willing to donate any surplus.
