Salisbury is getting its first ever dedicated yoga shop.

Yoga Stuff - The Maltings - is said to be a new sanctuary in the heart of the city centre for those wanting to improve their health and wellbeing.

The shop is due to have its official launch on 26th March 2022.

Its owner, Ilona Coryndon Burns, has been teaching yoga for three years, and her experience inspired the idea for the new 'Yoga Stuff' shop.

Her clients had been asking for advice, and expressing frustration at buying equipment online, so Ilona decided to create a shop that offered everything for living a yoga lifestyle.

Ilona told Greatest Hits Radio Salisbury:

“If I had something like this when I first started out, just being able to walk into a shop and get everything in one place, from someone who knows what they’re talking about, and have a cup of tea while I’m there, I think that would have made one of my first experiences in the yoga world a lot better.”

Ilona’s experience offers customers the chance to tap into her wealth of knowledge to enhance their whole ‘yoga lifestyle’.

YOGA STUFF: New shop officially opens in Salisbury on 26 March

Ilona says she's ready to help in any way that’s needed:

“It’s not just about a block and mat and a practice, it’s about feeling good in the things you wear while you’re practicing. It’s staying hydrated and looking after your body with wonderful products and looking after your mind with meditation. And, then, if you decide you want to look into nutrition, we can help you with that too.”

Well-being is at the heart of the Yoga Stuff offer. It is more than a shop; it is a space to restore health and bring calm to your life. This is something that Ilona has found is in even more need since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, with many people attending her yoga and sound healing sessions to release tension and anxiety.

Making yoga more accessible is important to Ilona. She wants to create a safe space where beginners can ask questions, learn and develop their own practice.

Ilona wants people to realise how easy it is to try:

“Yoga is not just for bendy people. It doesn’t matter what size or shape you are, whether you think you are super unfit or are a fitness guru – it's available to everyone. You could try chair yoga or a yoga where you break out into a sweat, it doesn’t matter where you are, there is a practice that is suitable for you. Yoga is a complete body-mind system that offers physical exercise and space to still the ‘monkey mind’ we all experience.”

Salisbury BID has said it is 'thrilled' to welcome Ilona to the business community.

BID Business Manager, Dan Collins said:

“The addition of Yoga Stuff brings another quality shopping option to the city centre and an offering you won't find anywhere else. It is a positive time for Salisbury, with vacancy rates continuing to remain lower than the national and regional average, and more business owners choosing to open stores here. We look forward to a busy spring and summer across the city."
