Yellow weather warning for heavy rain in Wiltshire

The Met Office has issued the alert

Published 11th Jan 2023

There's a warning to expect persistent heavy rain in parts of Wiltshire in the coming couple of days.

A yellow weather warning's been issued, coming into effect at 9.00pm tonight (Wednesday 11th January) and lasting right through until 5.00pm on Thursday (12th January).

The area in yellow is where the weather warning's due to have the biggest impact

It's expected to affect the areas west and north of Salisbury, but showers are still likely for the city and further east too.

The Met Office says we can expect:

  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses
  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
  • Some interruption to power supplies and other services is possible

The heavy rain is also being accompanied by strong winds, of up to 40 miles per hour for us.

Once the alert passes, we're expecting some calmer, and sunnier, weather for Friday (13th January).
