Climate activists will be on Salisbury's High Street today (Saturday 25th November) and are asking us to become a good ancestor.

According to a UN report, released on 14th November, governments are not making the necessary progress to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, with emissions expected to rise 9% above 2010 levels by 2030.

The report says this will take the world beyond the 1.5ºC degrees of warming considered 'safe'.

This means we are likely to leave behind a depleted and unpredictable world to generations to come.

Activists with Extinction Rebellion Salisbury will be in the city asking us to pledge that we will do one or two things that could help make a difference.

“Time is running out,” says Dr Richard Sharp, who's organising the action, “We must now step up to provide our children and all future generations of our families with a sustainable environment in which to live, grow and flourish.

"It’s time for us to think about what we can do to avoid catastrophe, and what we must do to be remembered by future generations as the Good Ancestor.”

They're inviting us to choose a free Christmas card, while we can also sign an extra large Christmas card to Salisbury MP John Glen, asking him to become a Good Ancestor too.

They'll be on the High Street between 10am and 12noon.
