The Laverstock secondary school has confirmed that a one member of staff has returned a positive test for the illness.

They've also said a 'small number of staff' who had been in contact with that person will get a letter asking them to self-isolate for 14 days.

Wyvern St Edmunds say no pupils have been in close contact with the member of staff affected.

A letter's been sent out to parents and carers at Wyvern St Edmunds

In a letter to parents from Headteacher Nicola Bull, parents are being reassured that the school remains fully open and children should continue to attend if they feel well.

She also says:

"We can assure you that we are taking all necessary precautions and following all the guidance and advice from Public Health England."

There's also advice for families on what to do if they suspect a Covid-19 case in their household, and a reminder of the symptoms to look for:

  • A new continuous cough
  • A high temperature
  • A loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell
Wyvern St Edmunds remains open for all pupils as the staff member testing positive hasn't been in contact with students

This case follows positive Covid-19 tests for pupils at Durrington's Avon Valley College and Bulford St Leonards Primary last week.
