Work getting underway on Wilton Library's roof

Wiltshire Council say 'essential repairs' are needed there

Published 8th Jun 2023

Work's due to begin today (Thursday 8th June) to repair the roof of Wilton's Library.

Wiltshire Council's kept the South Street building closed since early April, for safety reasons.

The repairs are expected to completed in mid-August, weather conditions permitting.

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Cabinet Member for Libraries said:

“Now that we have a detailed workplan, the repair work can get under way, and we look forward to reopening the facility in the summer.

“We are also taking the opportunity to carry out other repair work to the roof during this period, which will hopefully prevent the need for further works and building closures in the future.”

All books currently on loan from Wilton Library will have their return date extended until reopening, although they can also be returned to one of the other Wiltshire Libraries.
