Woodgreen pub quiz raises £4,500 for NHS Charities
Quizmaster Anthony Swift has been doing his bit to help
Anthony Swift normally runs the popular weekly pub quiz at the Horse and Groom in Woodgreen, during the lockdowns over the last year he's taken them online so teams could keep playing.
He even compiled his questions into a book so we can play along at home.
Anthony from Breamore explains how it started;
"Initially, we put the entry fees for the quiz into a contribution back to the pub to help tide them over the pandemic. It is those lockdown quizzes which have been collected into the book. There are over 30 quizzes, each of four 10-question rounds - along with the answers."
QUIZ ROUND RAISE POUNDS!
Proceeds from the sale of the book along with subscriptions to the weekly quiz and a generous donation from the landlord of the pub have resulted in over £4,500 being raised.
That money has been shared equally between the Stars Appeal at Salisbury District Hospital, The Friends of Fordingbridge Surgery and the NHS Heroes campaign at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Anthony says he's glad to be able to make a difference.
"I am delighted with progress so far, but really hope that with continuing sales of the quiz book (which is now available on Amazon Kindle also), we can push the total higher. I am incredibly grateful to my weekly quizzers (who donate £10 each team to join the quiz every week), and to Jason Schinkel at The Horse & Groom, as well as The Woodgreen Community Shop and Fordingbridge Bookshop who have helped me sell so many copies. I have added the Friends of Fordingbridge Surgery to the list of beneficiaries to recognise their incredible efforts on the vaccination programme."
WHERE CAN I GET A COPY OF THE BOOK?
The books are on sale at the Horse and Groom in Woodgreen, the village shop and Fordingbridge Bookshop with a suggested donation of £15.
You can also order by post from amgswift@gmail.com and from Amazon.
