The weekly pub quiz at the Horse and Groom in Woodgreen has proved popular for many years, but now it's also a mega fundraiser!

During the first lockdown, quiz master Anthony Swift put together questions for people to answer from home, and then put them into a book available for purchase.

Proceeds from that, plus donations from pub goers when the Horse and Groom could return to hosting live quizzes, has now raised a total of £7,500 for charity.

That money's been split between the NHS Heroes in Bournemouth, Salisbury District Hospital's Stars Appeal and the Friends of Fordingbridge Surgery.

The charities have already been given £1,500 each, but are now receiving an additional £1,000, as the donations keep coming in, nearly two years after the original lockdown quizzes were held.

Breamore resident Anthony Swift said:

“I’m incredibly grateful to all those who have supported us - to our regular customers who come and do the quiz live in the pub, those who join in online and to all those who have bought the book.

"This is a terrific total to be able to send to local charities which support all who work so hard in the NHS to protect us, and who have endured such unremitting pressure over the past two years.”

The Woodgreen Lockdown Pub Quiz Book is still available to buy for a suggested donation of £15.

Anthony is also still hosting the live quizzes at the Horse and Groom in Woodgreen on Tuesdays from 7.30pm.

Booking a table is advised, by calling 01725 510739.
