Woodfalls Band hoping to spread 'Spirit of Christmas'
Salisbury Plain Military Wives Choir will be part of the night in Wilton
A special 'Spirit of Christmas' concert is being put on by Woodfalls Band this evening (Saturday 7th December) - as part of helping them celebrate their 150th anniversary.
They'll also be joined at the Wilton Italianate Church by the Salisbury Plain Military Wives Choir for the night.
Tom Beddoes, from Woodfalls Band said:
“Our aim is to provide some festive cheer for local people from all walks of life - and this is a special year for our special Christmas event because it’s our 150th anniversary.
“We are immensely proud to represent our community as one of the finest bands in the South West, with a national reputation for our performances. However, with ever increasing venue hire costs, we welcome financial donations from local businesses.
“Music should be accessible to all so, thanks to Salisbury Reds generous support, concertgoers can pay what they can - with free admission for under-16s. By supporting local arts and culture, Salisbury Reds is playing an essential role in the success of this community-driven initiative.”
Film scores and classic carols, as well as uplifting seasonal music will be performed across the concert.
There's also been a helping hand from Salisbury Reds to make it happen - with the bus operator giving the band £500 from their Community Fund towards essential costs to put on the event.
Andrew Sherrington, Salisbury Reds general manager, said:
“This promises to be a wonderfully festive event, and I’m delighted that more local people will now have the opportunity to experience it. Our Community Fund is designed for just this kind of initiative, and I hope it provides some wonderful festive memories for all who attend."
