A woman who intervened during an attempted abduction of a teenage girl in Wiltshire has been recognised for her courage by the Chief of Police.

Krystal Fishlock's actions helped identify a suspect, with a man being charged.

The incident happened earlier this year as Krystal was going home from a shopping trip.

"I heard a girl screaming in terror," she said.

Krystal spotted the visibly shaken teen on the ground and a man fleeing the scene.

After learning the woman did not know the man, she displayed enourmous courage and followed the man to capture images of him.

"I went and looked for the man that tried to attack her, and I took a video," Krystal said.

She gave the video to the teenagers sister and the police, with the suspected later arrested and remanded in custody.

At the annual Police awards event in June, Krystal was awarded a Chief Constable’s Certificate of Recognition for Members of the Public, in honour of her invaluable assistance to Wiltshire Police.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "Her decisive intervention not only helped secure justice but also likely prevented further harm to others."
