New appeal after Salisbury robbery and assaults

Witnesses could hold clues to two incidents near the Library

Salisbury Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and robbery earlier this month.

Officers are linking the incidents which happened on Sunday 16 May between 2pm and 3.30pm. Police were called to reports of an assault and a robbery.

The first incident took place behind Salisbury Library, by the river, where a man is believed to have been assaulted and suffered injuries above his right eye and jaw.

The second incident is believed to have taken place between 3.10pm and 3.20pm adjacent to the library steps.

ROBBERY VICTIM WAS 'CORNERED' AND ASSAULTED

Police reports say the suspect approached another man and cornered him between the metal gate and wall at the entrance to Market Walk. The victim couldn't escape and was held and grabbed by the suspect whilst demands for money were made.

The suspect's described as a white man with grey hair, wearing a dark jacket with the hood up and blue jeans. A man in his 40s has been arrested and since released on bail pending further enquiries.

At the time of both incidents, it is understood there were many people walking by who may have seen or heard what happened.
