Car with stolen goods abandoned in Compton Chamberlayne after police chase

Police have seized a large amount of vapes and cigarettes believed to have been stolen in a car in Compton Chamberlayne.

Officers got their hands on the goods following a chase from Trowbridge to the South Wiltshire village, where four occupants escaped the car.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to help their enquiries.

The incident happened around 10:45pm on Monday night when a petrol station on West Ashton Road in Trowbridge was burgled.

Four people dressed in dark clothing and balaclavas are believed to have broken into the shop and stolen cigarettes, vapes and alcohol.

Officers were alerted to another burglary report in Shaftsbury and pursued the vehicle, believed to be linked to the two incidents.

The four people left the car in Compton Chamberlayne before officers seized the stolen goods.

A crowbar and fire extinguisher were also found in the car and the vehicle.
