Wiltshire's first Climate Change Summit, organised by local MP's and Wiltshire Council, is taking place virtually today (Friday 19th February.)

The session is being held by Devizes MP, Danny Kruger and will explore potential options for tackling climate change in the run up to the global COP26 conference.

He is being joined by speakers including Andrew Griffiths MP, Minette Batters of the NFU, Juliet Davenport of Good Energy and the former President of COP26 and former Devizes MP Claire O'Neil.

Climate lobby groups from across Wiltshire will also share their ideas and proposals for reaching Net Zero and make their own recommendations for changes to local and national policy.

The meeting will give locals a chance to ask questions and take part in break-out discussions around Climate Change, locally, globally, in business and environmental considerations in food and farming.

Devizes MP Danny Kruger said:

"Here in Wiltshire we know the benefits and the responsibilities that come with a beautiful, bountiful natural environment.

"We too have our part to play in reducing climate change and, I hope, in influencing the decision-makers in Glasgow."

WHAT IS COP26?

COP26 is a global climate change conference, which this year, is being held in Glasgow in November and being hosted by the UK.

The event is an opportunity for the world's leaders to review our efforts to reduce carbon emissions and support the countries and communities most at risk from the effects of global warming.

The meeting is taking place today (Friday 19th February) from 11am to 4pm.
